One person has died and nine people have been shot in a mass shooting at the Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport, reports say.
According to the New York Daily News, the airport posted on Twitter at 1 p.m. Jan. 6 that there is an "ongoing incident" in the baggage claim area.
Sources have revealed shots were fired at the airport, injuring nine and killing one. The suspect is in custody, according to the Daily Mail.
Photos and videos from the Florida airport show hundreds of people on the tarmac, with emergency vehicles parked outside of the terminal.
Former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer wrote on Twitter that he was at the airport and that shots were fired.
"I'm at the Ft. Lauderdale Airport," Fleischer wrote. "Shots have been fired. Everyone is running."
A short while later, he followed up: "All seems calm now but the police aren't letting anyone out of the airport - at least not the area where I am."
The Broward County Sheriff's Office did not immediately respond to the New York Daily News' request for information. The story is developing.
