A 16-year-old girl has died after being beaten by her 34-year-old boyfriend, according to Cincinnati police.
Hailey Hall died after spending two weeks in the intensive care unit at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
On Feb. 29, Hailey was brought to the Mercy Health West Hospital after a felonious assault was reported. Her collapsed lungs were lacerated and bleeding internally. There were bruises and cuts all over her body. She was later transferred to the University of Cincinnati.
Investigators learned that the assault took place around 2 a.m. at the Inner Circle nightclub.
According to police, the teen died on March 14 from her injuries.
“Honestly, it’s devastating,” Alison Gates, the principal of Hailey’s high school, told The Enquirer according to Cincinnati.com. “No 16-year-old deserves to have he life end the way that her life ended. Her life was just beginning.”
“She was really sweet, outgoing, and smart,” an anonymous family member told Fox 19. “She had the best personality and she always made everyone laugh and smile.”
According to Fox 19, Hailey’s boyfriend, William Arnold, is currently being held in Hamilton County Jail on $1 million bond for drug charges.
Arnold admitted to beating Hailey, police paperwork reveals. Additional charges may be added pending an investigation.
“I feel like he should be charged with murder,” Hailey’s family member said. “[Arnold] should have been charged with attempted murder in the first place because of what he did."
