Early on Aug. 2, a couple were walking along a street in Williamsburg, Virginia, when three people allegedly kidnapped them at gunpoint and forced them to withdraw money from an ATM.
After taking out the money, the male victim refused to get back in the car with the alleged kidnappers, so they took his girlfriend with them.
The three suspects were later tracked down in a car on a highway. The female victim was later found in a hotel, Williamsburg Yorktown Daily reported. She was allegedly dropped off there after the heist.
The three suspects have been identified as Derrick Antoine Smith, 34, Tajaddin Ismael Fardan Daily, 31, and Jameka L. Smith, 33. The trio, all of whom are Virginia residents, were charged with two counts of abduction, two counts of robbery one count of conspiracy to commit a felony and one count use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, WTVR reported.
Police did not say how much the group allegedly stole.
No one was apparently injured during the incident and authorities do not believe the victims and suspect know each other.
