| by Brendan Kelly

A St. Louis veteran is missing after his family said he went to meet someone to buy a car from Craigslist.

Robert Polk, 22, went missing on Oct. 3, according to investigators with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. His family believes that something went wrong when he went to meet somebody from Craigslist about a car, KTVI reports.

Polk was last seen on Oct. 3 at around 7 p.m., wearing a black sweatshirt and black sweatpants.

Polk attended Hazelwood East High School, where he was considered a standout football player. He then served two years in the Army and remains on the reserve list. According to his family, he loved serving his country.

Polk’s mother said that he had been working at a temp agency and was saving up to buy a car. She said he was excited after searching Craigslist to find a car that he liked.

“Went to go meet the person to buy the car,” his mother told KTVI, “he’d been talking to someone about a black Mustang and has not been back since.”

Police are encouraging anyone with information on Robert Polk’s whereabouts to call 911.
