Bishop E.W. Jackson, a Virginia Republican who recently won the nomination for Lt. Governor, stated in a 2012 video (below) that "Planned Parenthood has been far more lethal to black lives than the KKK ever was."
Bishop Jackson begins his video entitled "Message to Black Christians" with a race-tinged announcement: "It is time to end our slavish devotion to the Democratic Party. They have insulted us, used us and manipulated us."
“The Democrat Party has created an unholy alliance between certain so-called civil rights leaders and Planned Parenthood, which has killed unborn black babies by the tens of millions,” said Bishop Jackson. “Planned Parenthood has been far more lethal to black lives than the KKK ever was.”
Bishop Jackson also slammed homosexuals, whom he insisted are not being oppressed as black people were.
“They can keep their homosexuality private,” said Bishop Jackson. “You and I cannot hide being black. I need not recount to you the painful history of slavery, Jim Crow, lynchings and sterilizations, all because of skin color. Anyone who dares equate the so-called gay rights movement to the history of black Americans is exploiting the black community.”
According to Bishop Jackson's logic, that would include Martin Luther King's widow Coretta Scott King, who defended gay rights in 1998. As noted by Boston.com:
"I still hear people say that I should not be talking about the rights of lesbian and gay people and I should stick to the issue of racial justice. But I hasten to remind them that Martin Luther King Jr. said, ‘Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.’ I appeal to everyone who believes in Martin Luther King Jr.’s dream to make room at the table of brother- and sisterhood for lesbian and gay people."
