Pregnant Woman Runs Over Robber (Video)

| by Michael Doherty

A pregnant North Carolina woman ran over a man who she said was stealing a purse from her car (video below).

Footage of the incident shows 26-year-old Christine Braswell using her SUV to mow down the alleged thief, who was identified as Robert Raines, Daily Mail reports.

Braswell said that she spotted Raines rummaging through her car and stealing a purse. She initially tried to chase him on foot, but then got into her car.

"He was with my purse and he took off and I took off after him," said Braswell. "Me being five months pregnant, I chased a little ways then come back, jumped in the car, threw it in gear and come across the curb and ran him over."

Witnesses reported seeing Raines stealing from the car, and said that he fled when they tried to stop him.

"When I walked out of Wal-Mart, he had her purse and was pulling all of her stuff out," said witness Blake Bennett, according to WJW. "Then me and my friend told him to put it down and [asked]: 'What are you doing?'"

"I was not going to let him get away with it," Braswell said. "It's not right, it's not fair."

Raines suffered minor injuries in the collision and was taken to a hospital.

Both parties were charged over the incident. Raines was charged with felony breaking and entering, larceny, and misdemeanor damage to property for allegedly breaking the screens on Braswell's iPad and iPhone.

Braswell was charged for misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon.

In a similar story from March, a woman who was eight months pregnant fought off a robber at a convenience store, according to KTLA.

A surveillance camera caught the moment Jeanette Garlow chased the robber out of the store. According to Garlow, she had entered the store to get a money order when "out of nowhere, a guy comes from behind me and pushes me out of the way."

When the man tried to grab around $2,000 from Garlow, she chased after him, causing him to trip on a rug in the store and drop some of the cash. She continued the chase into the parking lot; the man managed to get away, but only stole about $40.

"All I could really think was: 'You're not taking my rent money.' My husband just worked so hard for that money, I'm going to get that money back," she said.

Garlow took a fall during the chase, so her husband took her to the hospital after the incident; the mother and the unborn baby were reported to be unharmed.
