Portland bus driver Bill Clark was driving down a busy street when he saw a 2-year-old child walking along the road all by himself. Rather than keep going, he decided to pull over.
"When I got out of the bus, I saw that he was barefoot, with a diaper on and he had on a little T-shirt," Clark said.
After a quick scan of the area, Clark couldn't find the child's parents nearby, so he decided to bring the boy on board and call police. Clark drove to Gresham Transit Station with police and waited there with the child until child services arrived.
Clark noted that had he seen the boy 30 seconds later, it probably would have been too late.
Child services managed to track down the boy's parents about two hours after he was found. When police interviewed the toddler's father, it was discovered that the boy escaped his house while his father was sleeping. His father immediately called police when he realized his son was missing.
No charges have been filed against the parents.
