Police have arrested one of three teens in connection with assaulting an 83-year-old Florida man and stealing his car.

The attack happened Tuesday around 10 a.m. when Charles Clark was getting out of his car at his apartment complex at the nearby Park Plaza, WTSP 10 News reports. One of the teenagers allegedly approached him from behind and began beating and stabbing him with a knife. Another person tried to attack him, but he fought back.

"I kept hitting, hitting, and hitting," says Clark.

He then screamed for help. Neighbor Mark Lindsey, who heard the fray from his apartment on the third floor, quickly ran downstairs, but by that time the three suspects fled on their bikes and made off with his keys.

"I just heard someone yelling and I looked out the window and saw someone punching him," Lindsey told ABC Action News. "That was awful. It was the worst thing I'd ever seen."

Police reportedly noticed Clark’s missing car, which was later found abandoned in a St. Petersburg neighborhood, and was being processed for evidence.  Three bicycles were also found near his home, indicating that the teens returned.

"When they came back last night that's a little icing on the cake," says Ala Ryder, who lives next door to Clark. “It scares you, it scares you.”

As for Clark, he’s happy to see his car was recovered and hopes those responsible will spend some time in jail.

"I want to know why? Why do something like this? Why do you have to be like that?" says Clark.

Antonio Peterson, 16, and his brother Xavier Peterson, 13, have been arrested and are being held in police custody.

Police say Xavier turned himself into the Pinellas Park Police Department. He denies any part of the attack, but admitted to theft of the motor vehicle.

He has been charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle and was transported to the juvenile assessment center.

Police are still searching for a third suspect, 15-year-old Jazmine Burney.

Surveillance footage shows two of the suspects riding bikes shortly before the attack:
