Misty VanHorn Arrested for Attempting to Sell Children for Boyfriend's Jail Bond

| by

A mother was desperate to get her boyfriend out of jail, so she attempted to sell her two children for $5,000.

Misty VanHorn, 22, asked for $1,000 for her two-year-old and $4,000 for her four-year-old.

Her boyfriend was in jail on $40,000 bond, but VanHorn was hoping to make a dent in that sum by selling her offspring.

She was arrested by police for trafficking children after an investigation in Sallisaw, Oklahoma.

It started when she approached a woman on Facebook in Fort Smith and talked about selling her two kids.

The woman, whose name was not released, called the Oklahoma Department of Human Services who then alerted Sallisaw Police.

The mother’s neighbors said she had been going door-to-door asking for money to get her boyfriend out of jail.

“She was going door to door, here to all the way across town asking everybody for money to get him out,” neighbor Tony Mosby said.

The children are now in the custody of the state.

It is not known why her boyfriend is in jail.
