Meme Maker Trolls Gullible Facebook Users With 'Hunting' Photo

| by Jonathan Wolfe

A large portion of the internet has been up in arms this week over Kendall Jones, the 19-year-old who posted pictures of herself online with animals she killed on an African hunting expedition.

Facebook meme-maker Jay Branscomb saw all the hysteria and decided it was the perfect time to test how gullible people are.

On his Facebook page, Branscomb posted a picture of Steven Spielberg posing with a seemingly dead triceratops prop from his hit movie Jurassic Park. The picture included a caption saying "Disgraceful photo of recreational hunter happily posing next to a Triceratops he just slaughtered. Please share so the world can name and shame this despicable man."

Here’s the photo:

The picture, taken on the set of Spielberg's 1993 blockbuster Jurassic Park, was posted online last Sunday by Facebook meme-maker and wit Jay Branscomb

The joke worked, and soon enough people were slamming the "hunter" in the photo for killing a triceratops. One user who even recognized that it was Spielberg still blasted him for slaughtering the long-extinct animal.

The user, PenelopeRayzor Bachand, called Spielberg an “inhumane killer,” an “uneducated prick,” and proceeded to rant about “uneducated hunters.” Pretty funny stuff.

Here’s a picture of her entire response alongside the photo, courtesy of LAist:

Thankfully, the vast majority of people who saw the photo picked up on the obvious trolling taking place. Thanks for the laugh, Mr. Branscomb.
