A Texas grandfather is under fire for dumping ice water on his 10-month-old granddaughter as part of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge that’s swept social media in the past few weeks.
Reggie Stewart of Houston, Texas posted his challenge video online just like hundreds of thousands of people across the world have done already, but Stewart took the challenge to an entirely different level.
"I've been called out for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, and my granddaughter is going to do it with me," said Stewart right before dumping the bucket of ice water on himself and the 10-month-old baby.
Although the video cuts off before the baby’s reaction is visible, it’s disturbing to watch the ice water dump down on top of the baby so hard.
Now, Claude Dalcour, the girl’s father, has filed a complaint against Stewart, who is his estranged wife’s father, with local law enforcement.
“I was shocked, appalled. It brought me to tears, like I was hurt, angry. That's all I can say,” said Dalcour to Fox 26 News. “It's abuse because my daughter is an infant. She doesn’t know what’s going on.”
Police say they are investigating the incident.
