A 10-year-old girl was sleeping on the couch of her family’s Milford, Massachusetts, home on Aug. 27 when a man allegedly tied her up and left with some nicknacks (video below). The suspect remains at large.
“He came into the apartment, woke her up, and pointed a gun at her,” Milford Police Chief Thomas O’Loughlin told the Boston Herald. “He put the gun in his pocket, carried her to a kitchen chair, and put tape around her.”
The girl’s parents were next door at her uncle’s home at the time, but her mother told WCVB that there were two other adults in the apartment at the time, none of them heard the commotion. "Apparently he took a couple of figurines from the kitchen or something, I'm not sure. And left,” her mother said.
O’Loughlin said the thief made off with a Mason jar of change and ignored the valuables. “There was a notebook computer, a game station right there where she was, but all he supposedly took was the jar of change,” he said.
O’Loughlin said incidents like these are “very rare.”
“I think the last time we had a situation like this was a drug-related incident about five years ago,” he said. “There have probably been only a couple in the 14 years I have been in Milford.”
