An animal lover learned the hard way that snapping turtles are called that for a reason after he tried to kiss one and ended up in the hospital.
The Chinese man was releasing the turtle into the wild when he decided to kiss it goodbye.
Unfortunately, the turtle responded by biting the man’s lip. The turtle dangled from the man’s face until someone could pry it from his lips.
The man was immediately taken to the hospital.
According to Shanghai Daily news, the turtle was an alligator snapping turtle native to North America and known to be extremely dangerous.
The alligator snapping turtle is the largest freshwater turtle in the world (in terms of weight) and can grow to a foot-and-a-half in length. The turtle is also known for its powerful jaws, which are strong enough to bite through a broomstick handle.
