Police in Gresham, Oregon, are investigating after a group of children found an eyeball outside of a restaurant on Thursday night.
The eyeball was discovered inside a yellow, transparent medicine bottle in a parking lot outside of Red Robin, near the Gresham station shopping center, according to KPTV. Next to the eyeball was a pair of broken eyeglasses, a lighter and shower gel.
The kids immediately alerted restaurant workers, according to Red Robin employee Brittany Hancock. Police were subsequently called and made aware of the discovery.
Police have not yet determined whether the eyeball is from a human or an animal.
“It just broke my heart,” Hancock told KPTV. “Because either way, if it was an animal or a person, it's just hard to think of how to feel. It was just so bizarre."
The eye was taken to a medical examiner as part of the investigation.
