A Kansas City mother's speech defending her transgender child has gone viral.
During the "Listen to Your Mother" show almost two months ago, conservative and Southern Baptist Debi Jackson told a story about her daughter, a 7-year-old who had transitioned from male to female at age 4.
"She transitioned, which means she changed her outward appearance from male to female and started living full time as her true gender," Jackson starts.
As her speech continues, Jackson explains how she and her husband discovered that their daughter was transgender, that their daughter often wore dresses to school and told them specifically that she wanted to be a girl.
Jackson defends her daughter by arguing against common complaints, like the idea that kids have no idea what they want and that they shouldn't be indulged.
In response to the idea that God hates transgender people, Jackson quotes Samuel 16:7.
"The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."
Jackson notes that her daughter knows she's a girl in her heart and God also knows it, which is good enough for her.
