Judge Stefan Hank ruled in Dusseldorf, Germany, on Thursday that a man has the right to urinate while standing up inside his apartment.
One man's landlord tried to keep thousands of dollars of the tenant's security deposit for allegedly damaging a bathroom floor via urine, notes The Guardian.
According to the BBC, some public bathrooms in Germany do not allow men to stand while urinating. However, men who sit while urinating are called a derogatory term, “Sitzpinkler,” which means lacking masculinity.
Judge Hank added that men who stand while urinating “must expect occasional rows with housemates, especially women” but can't be held responsible for collateral damage.
“Despite growing domestication of men in this matter, urinating while standing up is still widespread,” he said.
