Jeffery Dale Trevino has been charged with murdering his wife Kira after police discovered evidence of a bloody fight at the Minnesota couple’s home. It appeared as if an attempt was made to cover it up. Police also found blood in Kira’s car.
Authorities believe that Kira was killed last Thursday or Friday. Her sister, Keri Anne Steger, fears the worst. “It’s haunting my family every single minute of every, every minute,” she said.
As news of Kira’s death and Jeffery’s arrest began to spread, a strange photo appeared on Facebook. In the picture, which appears to be inspired by the zombie apocalypse in AMC’s “The Walking Dead” television series, Jeffery has his arms wrapped around a smiling, decaying zombie. According to The Daily News, in the text that accompanies the post, he wrote “Me and the wife out for a walk in the park.”
Kira’s body has still not been recovered. Jeffery, 39, is charged with two counts of second-degree murder. His bail is set at $1 million. Ramsey County Attorney John Choi is confident that prosecutors can prove Kira, 30, was killed, even without a body. Police believe that she is definitely dead because of the “copious” amount of blood they found.
A search of the Trevino’s house revealed a carpet cleaner that had what appeared to be blood and human tissue inside of it, bleach-stained towels and a mop and bucket in the hallway.
Forensic investigators found even more grisly evidence in the couple’s bedroom. There was blood on the floor and wall, the box spring and bed frame. There were also traces of blood in the living room, kitchen, hallway, basement and in the laundry area.
Jeffery told the cops that his wife was going through a “mid-life crisis.” He tried to explain her disappearance by saying that she would often leave for days and lie about where she was staying.
