Disturbing new images of ISIS fighters hurling a homosexual man off the roof of a building have been posted on a jihadist website.
A photograph captured the moment when a mob of at least eight ISIS members threw a man off a roof after an Islamic court found him guilty of being gay. The building is believed to be located somewhere in northern Iraq.
“The Islamic court in Wilayet al-Furat decided that a man who has practiced sodomy must be thrown off the highest point in the city,” ISIS cited in a statement. The militant group added that they would also stone the man to death.
This is now the third incident in less than a month that ISIS has used this execution method for alleged homosexuality.
An earlier incident involved a 20-year-old man who was stoned to death in the Syrian province of Deir Ezzor in late November. According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the man was executed after ISIS claimed they found videos of him performing “indecent acts with males” on his phone. The London-based activist group claims an 18-year-old man suffered a similar fate.
Public executions are a common affair with this militant group, which now rules over parts of northern Syria and Iraq. The Observatory reported that the group beheaded a man in northern Syria on Tuesday because he offended Allah. Children in the crowd watched the gruesome execution.
