Dallas Sniper Kills Cops After Hate Group Encourages It

| by Kathryn Schroeder

After Micah Xavier Johnson fatally shot five Dallas, Texas, police officers and wounded seven others on July 7, the leader of a hate group called on his followers to kill white police officers.

“We have no alternative! We must kill white police officers across the country!” Dr. Mauricelm-Lei Millere, the leader of the African American Defense League, wrote alongside a photo of him and former President Bill Clinton on a July 8 Instagram post.

Millere said the group’s “First Blood” campaign would begin in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

“We must kill the one in blue who is killing me and killing you! We must kill the white policeman across the country! We must hide in the darkness of the night and kill the white policeman across the country!” Millere wrote.

He added that black police officers should take a leave of absence.

Millere claims the photo of him and Clinton was taken in May, The Daily Beast reports.

The morning after the Dallas police shootings, Millere took to Facebook to again encourage violence against police officers.

“WE ARE CALLING ON THE GANGS ACROSS THE NATION! ATTACK EVERYTHING IN BLUE EXCEPT THE MAIL MAN, UNLESS HE IS CARRYING MORE THAN MAIL,” Millere wrote on the AADL's Facebook page in a post that is no longer live.

Johnson was a follower of the group.

On July 6, following the death of Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, by a white police officer, Melliere posted the following to the AADL’s Facebook page:

The Pig has shot and killed Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge, Louisiana! You and I know what we must do and I don’t mean marching, making a lot of noise, or attending conventions. We must ‘Rally The Troops!’ It is time to visit Louisiana and hold a barbeque. The highlight of our occasion will be to sprinkle Pigs Blood!

The next day, Johnson shot and killed white police officers in Dallas.
