At least six people were injured when a gunman opened fire in a FedEx building in Kennesaw, Ga., Tuesday morning.
Gunfire erupted in a warehouse near the Cobb County Airport, about 30 miles northwest of Atlanta just before 6 a.m. The male suspect fled after the shooting. He was at large for several hours before he committed suicide.
"That individual is deceased here at the scene," Cobb County Police Department Sgt. Dana Pierce told reporters Tuesday.
"That was the only weapon that he had at that time," he added. "As far as I know, he worked at this location."
Victims were rushed to WellStar Kennestone Regional Medical Center. Three are in critical condition, according to CNN.
“FedEx is aware of the situation,” FedEx spokesman Scott Fiedler said in a statement early Tuesday. “Our primary concern is the safety and well-being of our team members, first responders and others affected. FedEx is cooperating with authorities.”
