With many U.S. colleges letting students off for Spring Break around this time of year, Cancun is a popular destination for many young Americans.
Cancun tourism director Maximo Garcia Rocha said that the resort where the shooting occurred was expecting around 43,000 people to show up during Spring Break. It is not clear if that number will change because of the incident. To protect tourists, Rocha said authorities will increase their presence.
