At least six people were killed when two gunmen packing automatic rifles opened fire at a bar near a popular resort in Cancun, Mexico. Some reports have the number of dead at seven. Multiple people were also wounded in the shooting. According to Public Safety Secretary Jesus Aiza, the suspects arrived near the pool area of the bar on Thursday evening.

The survivors of the attack are at a nearby hospital and are currently under police protection.  Authorities do not have a motive for the attack at this time and no one has been arrested for the crime as of yet. It is believed that some of the victims were members of a taxi union, according to The Inquisitr.

With many U.S. colleges letting students off for Spring Break around this time of year, Cancun is a popular destination for many young Americans.

Cancun tourism director Maximo Garcia Rocha said that the resort where the shooting occurred was expecting around 43,000 people to show up during Spring Break. It is not clear if that number will change because of the incident. To protect tourists, Rocha said authorities will increase their presence.
