Grand Jury Decision Reached In Darren Wilson Ferguson Case

| by Charles Roberts

A grand jury has decided whether it will indict Darren Wilson in the shooting death of Michael Brown.

Brown, 18, was shot and killed by Wilson following an altercation between the two on Aug. 9. Witnesses at and near the scene offered conflicting accounts of what transpired that day. Some suggested that Wilson shot Brown while the teenager was standing a safe distance away, with his arms in the air. Others offered a countering take – noting that Brown was attempting to fight Wilson prior to the shooting.

Earlier this week, Michael Brown Sr. pleaded with the Ferguson community for peace after the grand jury announced its decision.

Most anticipate that Wilson will not be indicted, and it is feared that the backlash to this will immediately turn violent.

Some schools in the area will reportedly be shut down this week as a safety precaution.

Earlier this week, Gov. Jay Nixon declared a State of Emergency ahead of the big announcement. The FBI has also reportedly sent at least 100 agents to Ferguson in case local officers need additional help.
