BREAKING: 'Glee' Star Dead Of Apparent Suicide

| by Sean Kelly

Actor Mark Salling, known for his role on "Glee," died at the age of 35 from apparent suicide.

Salling, who pleaded guilty in October 2017 to possession of child pornography involving a prepubescent minor, was found dead on a baseball field. At the time that police found him, he had been dead for some time, TMZ reported.

Police responded after a family member reported Salling missing, prompting authorities to do a welfare check that led them to the field. His body was found near a riverbed, and was close to where he lived in Los Angeles.

"I can confirm that Mark Salling passed away early this morning. Mark was a gentle and loving person, a person of great creativity, who was doing his best to atone for some serious mistakes and errors of judgment," attorney Michael Proctor said in a statement to People.

"He is survived by his mother and father, and his brother. The Salling family appreciates the support they have been receiving and asks for their privacy to be respected."

At the time of his death, Salling was expected to be sentenced to four to seven years in prison for his child pornography conviction.

Salling was known for the role of Noah "Puck" Puckerman on the Fox musical comedy show, which he played from 2009-2015.
