A Georgia man has been arrested in Kentucky after allegedly choking a woman he met online because she did not fit her dating profile.
Cornelius Jefferson, 33, of Monroe, Georgia, moved to Kentucky to be with the unidentified woman, according to Laurel County Sheriff’s spokesman Gilbert Acciardo Jr.
However, Jefferson allegedly assaulted the woman around 4:20 am on Tuesday, WSBTV.com reports.
Police say Jefferson and the woman had been arguing because he didn’t think the woman was like she described on the Internet, according to MyFox Atlanta.
“The argument was allegedly because the male subject didn’t think she was like she was on the Internet,” the sheriff’s department posted on its Facebook page. “He allegedly choked her with both hands around the neck and threw food on her and left the scene on foot with two suitcases.”
Jefferson was found walking nearby and deputies arrested him, police say. He was charged with fourth-degree assault in this domestic violence case and is being held in the Laurel County detention facility.
According to the Associated Press, jail records did not list an attorney for Jefferson.
