Marine Corps Orders Spouse Clubs to Admit Gay Members

| by Michael Allen

The U.S. Marine Corps is now requiring all spouse clubs to allow members of same sex couples, or the club will be banned from the military base, reports The Associated Press.

The rule change was apparently caused by a controversy at Fort Bragg, when the Ashley Broadway was denied membership to the American Military Partner Association, a military spouse club, even though she legally married Army Lt. Col. Heather Mack in November (the couple is pictured).

Marine spokesperson Cpt. Eric Flanagan told CNN: “We expect that all who are interested in supporting Marine Corps Family Readiness would be welcome to participate and will be treated with dignity and respect.”
