Sen. Rob Portman’s (R-OH) decision to support gay marriage because his son is gay has been met with numerous attacks today from those in his own party.
This was especially true at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), where attendees slammed the man who was a contender just one year ago to be Mitt Romney's running mate.
ThinkProgress.org spoke with 10 CPAC attendees and reports "every person we spoke with opposed same-sex marriage, and many had harsh words for Portman."
“Horrible!” said an 88-year-old woman from New Jersey. Pastor William Temple, told Portman to “quit being so selfish as to only think about his son” or “step down and go home.”
“Well what did Sen. Portman expect when he sent his son to Yale,” said attendee David Kern.
