Four Utah men were arrested on March 27 after reportedly raping a 9-year-old girl while her mother and a friend smoked methamphetamine in their garage.
The 9-year-old victim was at a home in Vernal, Utah, with her mother when the assault took place. The girl was allegedly sleeping on the couch when her mother and a friend went to the garage to smoke meth, Fox 13 News reports.
When they returned, the little girl was extremely upset and her clothes were in disarray.
She told her mother the following day that she had been taken to a different bedroom and raped and sodomized by four men in the house while her mother was gone. The men reportedly said they would kill her if she ever told anyone about what they had done.
The mother called the police. One of the four alleged rapists was identified by the little girl from a photograph, leading to the arrest of 36-year-old Larson James RonDeau.
The other three alleged rapists -- Josiah RonDeau, 20, Jerry Flatlip, 29, and Randall Flatlip, 26 -- were arrested between March 31 and April 1.
Officers looked for evidence relating to the sexual assault after obtaining a search warrant, and they discovered bloodstained bedding in addition to marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
All of the men have been booked into jail and each face one count of rape of a child and one count of sodomy of a child, both first-degree felonies.
The 9-year-old victim is currently being cared for in state custody rather than remaining in her mother's care for the time being, according to the Uintah County Sheriff's Office.
