A former substitute teacher from Manchester, New Jersey, who was charged with sexually assaulting four students in 2014 pleaded guilty on June 8.
Linda Hardan, 22, faces up to five years in prison after she admitted to second-degree sexual assault and two counts of child endangerment as part of a plea deal she was given, according to NorthJersey.com.
Weeping before the Superior Court in Paterson, Hardan confessed to sending sexually explicit pictures of herself to a 16-year-old student in 2014, reports NJ.com. She also admitted to performing oral sex on another 16-year-old and a 14-year-old during the same month.
In New Jersey, the age of sexual consent is 16 years old, but the law makes an exception to ban an adult from having sex with anyone between the ages of 16 and 18 if that adult is in a position of supervisory authority over the teenager.
Passaic County Senior Assistant Prosecutor Gyselle Da Silva said that New Jersey would recommend a five-year sentence as part of a plea agreement. When Hardan completes the sentence -- if such a sentence is given -- she would be required to register as a sex offender under Megan's Law and would be placed under lifelong parole.
Hardan was released on $200,000 bail in 2014 and is required to wear an ankle-bracelet monitor. Her sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 30.
