Two fishermen got an unexpected surprise while fishing on the Warrior River near Bluff Creek, Alabama Saturday morning.
“This puts a new spin on the term ‘catfishing,’” Jason Frost wrote on his Facebook page, accompanied by a video of Saturday’s big catch.
Frost and his buddy, Brandon Key, had heard a splash and saw something swimming towards them, AL.com reported. They weren’t sure what it was at first, and then they heard some meowing.
“Never in my life have I seen anything like that,” Frost said in the video.
I really don't know how to describe this video, but the Warrior River never fails to surprise me......this puts a new spin on the term "catfishing"Posted by Jason Frost on Saturday, August 29, 2015
Frost picks the kitten up from the water and sets it aboard. Less than a minute later, Frost and Key hear another splash and see another kitten swimming towards them.
“Well there's a first time for everything, isn't there?” Frost said.
The pair of kittens were identical and appeared to be about a few months old. Frost said they were perfectly comfortable while being on the boat.
“People were looking at us out on the water like, ‘Oh my God, these people got cats with them,’” Frost told AL.com.
Frost added that they had no idea where the kittens came from, but he doesn’t think they were lost since there weren’t any homes nearby. They gave the kittens to two little girls they met back on shore, and the family decided to take them.
The video of Frost and the kittens has been viewed more than 200,000 times on Facebook since it was uploaded Saturday. Frost said he’s received countless messages from strangers, thanking them for saving the kittens.
“Everybody always has a crazy fishing story, and that's all it is, is a story,” Frost said. “If I wouldn't have had this on video, everybody would have thought I was crazy.”
