5-Year-Old Boy Calls 911 After Witnessing Parents' Double Murder

| by Jonathan Constante

A Tennessee child was left an orphan after he witnessed the murder of both of his parents.

Chattanooga police received a phone call on Jan. 31 from a 5-year-old boy. The child informed police that his parents had been shot, AOL.com reported.

When they arrived at the family’s duplex home, police found George Dillard, 24, and Lakita Hicks, 25, dead at the scene.

“We have dual concerns here, finding the people who committed this atrocious act of violence and making sure we help the people who have survived it and are affected by it,” Fred Fletcher, Chief of the Chattanooga Police Department, told The Grio.

Fletcher said it was not clear if the murders were gang-related, although Dillard was reportedly a gang member. No suspect information is available at this time.

The Family Justice Center and the Chattanooga Police Department’s Victims Services Coordinator are now looking to help the 5-year-old boy, who is living with close relatives. The boy was unharmed during the incident.
