Vincent Bright entered a guilty plea to "disinterring a body" on Monday to avoid a long jail sentence for removing his dad's body from a Detroit cemetery in hopes that his father would be resurrected.
Bright will likely get probation with credit for time already served in jail. He will be formally sentenced on Sept. 24 in Wayne County Circuit Court, notes CBS Detroit.
The bizarre incident happened on Jan. 14.
Bright took the body of Clarence Bright, 93, from the Gethsemane Cemetery, hours before it was to be buried and stored it in his home freezer.
Family members called police who found the corpse in Bright’s Detroit home.
A trial conviction could have locked up Bright for 10 years.
