Two Police Cars Collide When One Runs Red Light

New York authorities say two Syracuse police officers collided after one ran a red light Tuesday.

Officer Robert Harrington, 35, was driving a police cruiser around 11:20 a.m. when he allegedly failed to stop at a red light. He collided with a unmarked police vehicle driven by Det. Edward MacBlane, 51.

Harrington was distracted by his computer when he crashed into the other car, Sgt. Gary Bulinski told The Post-Standard.

He was in the process of responding to a suspicious-person complaint. He didn’t have the siren or emergency light on, police said.

Neither of the men was injured, and no tickets have been issued.
