An alleged car thief reportedly helped police by taking selfies and a video of himself while driving around La Porte, Texas, in a stolen vehicle.
Kenneth Davis, 17, was reportedly pulled over by police at 4 a.m. Monday while driving in a stolen truck, reports KHOU. Cops asked to search his cell phone, and when they did, they reportedly discovered several selfies and a video Davis took while driving around in a different pick-up truck that had been reportedly stolen. The suspect can be heard rapping along to a song in the video.
"It's a sign of the times," said Sgt. John Krueger of the La Porte Police Department. "That's just a reflection of the younger criminal at this time—they feel comfortable bragging with their friends."
The teen has been charged with two counts of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and one count of burglary. He reportedly confessed to breaking into another vehicle, but said he was unable to drive off in it because the steering wheel was locked with a club.
Police say the evidence on his phone may implicate him in other crimes.
