A Texas woman has been accused of sexually assaulting children she was babysitting and sending photographs of the alleged abuse to her boyfriend, officials with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said recently.
KPRC News reports 29-year-old Ashley Virginia Dack has been charged with sexual performance by a child and super aggravated sexual assault of a child.
Her boyfriend Patrick Schuneman has also been charged. He is 37, according to the New York Daily News.
Court documents, obtained by KPRC, allege the Houston-area couple were performing sex acts on children and boasting about their actions to one another through explicit text messages.
Dack would occasionally work as a babysitter, authorities said, but both she and Schuneman are reportedly geologists for oil and gas companies.
"The defendants befriend women who have small children, and she becomes good friends with them to gain access to the children," Tiffany Dupree, a prosecutor on the case, told KPRC.
Police began investigating the couple after Dack allegedly bragged about the abuse to a friend. That friend reportedly downloaded messages from Dack’s phone and contacted police in October 2014.
Authorities subsequently executed simultaneous searches of both Dack’s and Schuneman’s homes and are said to have retrieved at least one cellphone containing graphic text messages.
“Oh honey? I never know. There is a little girl at lunch with blonde pig tails, kept dancing around on the floor. Wanted you 2 to be hiding in my car and I could bring her 2 you. Maybe 4 [years of age],” Dack reportedly said to Schuneman in one message on Aug. 30, 2012.
“Would love that. Would you join us or leave us alone?” he responded, according to the court documents.
“Join you. We could use the seat belt to hold her down and wrap around her neck so she couldn't wiggle because it would get tighter and tighter,” she replied.
The documents also show Dack sent numerous photos to Schuneman of children engaging in sex acts. In one she is reportedly inappropriately touching an 11-month-old child.
“Incredible," he responded to the picture, according to the documents. "Best ever seen. Thank you.”
KPRC reports investigators were later able to identify the child and tracked down the mother who confirmed Dack babysat the toddler on the same day the pictures were sent.
Investigators said that after reviewing the contents of the phone they became convinced the two were conspiring to sexually abuse children together. Authorities moved forward with filing charges to get the couple in custody and hopefully spare other children from abuse.
"The defendant and codefendant shared text messages over time that suggest something more sadistic than your typical sexual abuse," Prosecutor Stephen Driver said.
The New York Daily News reports authorities said they also found images from the alleged text exchanges saved on Schuneman’s computer.
Both Dack and Schuneman remain in custody. They were charged Friday.
Dack is being held on a $350,000 bond. If she posted bail, she would be forced to surrender her passport and wear an ankle monitor.
The court declined bond for Schuneman.
