A Texas man allegedly raped and impregnated his 18-year-old, special needs stepdaughter, who was found dead with her uterus cut out.
The body of Holli Jeffcoat was found in a partially-burned home in Idalou, Texas, on Feb. 10, reported the New York Daily News.
Weeks later, police arrested Jeffcoat’s stepfather, James Holland, 39, on three counts of sexual abuse. He has not been implicated in Jeffcoat's murder.
Instead, Jeffcoat's mother, Debi Holland, has been linked to the murder after she allegedly set the Idalou house on fire in what appeared to be an attempt to hide signs of rape and Jeffcoat's pregnancy. The killer slit Jeffcoat's throat and cut out her uterus, where there was a 13-week-old fetus.
In February, Jeffcoat revealed the ongoing sexual abuse to her school officials.
“She didn’t want to go home with dad because she didn’t want to have sex,” Jeffcoat, who had the mental age of a 7-year-old, told a school official, according to KCBD. “The sex hurt.”
Jeffcoat reportedly told the school she could feel the baby inside her and her stepfather planned on aborting it with a coat hanger.
Court documents note the abuse dates back to 2008, according to the New York Daily News.
Debi Holland is in jail on charges of aggravated sexual assault, and bond has been set at $500,000. James Holland's bail has been set at $1 million.
Authorities have not charged any suspects in connection with Jeffcoat's death.
