James Worley, a pastor and former police officer, was recently charged with 37 sex crimes involving two children.
Worley has reportedly been a senior pastor at the Powell Valley Church in Gresham, Oregon, since 2012.
According to KATU (video below), Worley was indicted on Dec. 16, 2014, on "two counts of rape, 20 counts of sexual abuse, 11 counts of sodomy, one count of attempted sodomy and three counts of using a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct."
The alleged sex crimes happened between Sept. 1, 2002, and June 30, 2004, when the two children — one boy and one girl — were under the ages of 14 and 12, claims the Deschutes County District Attorney's Office in its indictment.
Prosecutors believe there may be more victims.
Worley was booked into a local jail Dec. 30, 2014, on $500,000 bond.
On the same day, he reportedly tweeted: “Stormy weather has arrived. About to find out two-things: who our real friends are and how our God glorifies himself. #Psalm35 #GlorytoGod.”
KATU adds that Worley worked as a police officer for the Tillamook Police Department from Sept. 1, 2005, until Nov. 3, 2006, but was "let go" in 2007 for ongoing misconduct.
RawStory.com noted that the misconduct allegedly included unethical citations, destruction of marijuana evidence, too much web use while on duty, the creation of sexually explicit ads, and unwanted sexual advances made to a female worker at a 911 dispatch center.
