Brenda Ramon and her son, Anthony, were watching the evening news when a report about a teenager wanted for attempted rape came on. When surveillance footage showed the suspect, she immediately recognized who it was.
The alleged attempted rapist wanted by police was her 19-year-old son, who was sitting next to her.
"She came and woke me up. Then I went and got dressed and we took him over to the precinct." Ramon's father, Franklin, said. "It was shocking, to see your son up there, wanted for some crime that we knew nothing about."
Anthony was arrested and charged with attempted rape, burglary and stalking, reports New York Post.
His alleged victim was a 33-year-old woman who lives in Washington Heights, New York.
He reportedly followed her home after seeing her on a subway train. According to police, he followed her into the elevator and exposed himself to her and started to masturbate.
Ramon then grabbed the victim's arms and tried to force himself on her, but she ran out of the elevator and into her apartment, reports Daily Mail.
The victim was not injured.
