Ohio parents are facing charges after their toddler was found stuck in a toilet after they left him home alone to shop at Walmart.
On Jan. 21, police responded to a Canton apartment after neighbors reported hearing a child crying for over a half hour.
Police were let into the apartment by a maintenance worker at the apartment complex. They found a 20-month-old boy, who was home alone, stuck in the toilet, crying. Officers helped the toddler out and called Child Protective Services.
Also found inside the home were three marijuana plants.
The toddler’s mother, Justice Chance, 20, was spotted nearly two hours later carrying Walmart bags to her apartment. Investigators believe that Chance left her son by himself to go shopping at Walmart.
According to The Independent, Chance told police that her sister was supposed to be babysitting her son, but she said she did not know her sister’s last name.
The boy’s father, Rashaan Cuffee, also 20, was found hours later and both parents were arrested and charged with child endangerment and marijuana cultivation. They were brought to the Stark County Jail, where Cuffee was held on $25,250 bond and Chance was held on $26,000 bond, The Independent reported.
