Mass. Man Steven Hager Charged With Taking Upskirt Photos Of 7-Year-Old Girl

| by

A Massachusetts man was arraigned on Thursday and charged with stalking and photographing a 7-year-old girl with his cell phone while she was with her mother at the supermarket. Police say that Steven Hager of Haverhill, Mass., followed the girl for 20 minutes in a local Market Basket on Monday before he made his approach.

“He gets close enough when the mother’s attention is drawn away and he leaned down and appears he took his cell phone and snapped a picture with the cell phone underneath the 7-year-old’s skirt,” said Police Lt. Robert Pistone on Wednesday.

The mother alerted management at the store about what she thought was going on and they called police. Investigators relied on the public for help in determining the suspect’s identity and released surveillance images and video of the incident. They received numerous tips which ultimately led them to 38-year-old Hager.

When they went to his home, Hager’s brother and mother both positively identified that it was him on the video. He was arrested on Wednesday and charged with indecent assault and battery on a person under 14, posing a child for a sexual act and photographing or electronic surveying a partially nude person, CBS Local reported.

Prosecutors informed the judge that Hager had admitted to the crime and also confessed to having done it before. Detectives plan to obtain a search warrant and inspect his house.

Hager is being held on $10,000 cash bail. If he does post bail, he must wear a GPS bracelet and will not be allowed to use the Internet or have contact with children.
