Michigan Daycare Worker Arrested After FBI Child Porn Sting

| by Emily Smith

Michigan man and middle school teacher Cory Grant Leonard, 36, was arrested on suspicion of possessing child porn.

Leonard also worked at a daycare in addition to being a father of three young children.

The FBI discovered Leonard during an investigation into a Maryland man who allegedly distributed child pornography and committed child sex abuse, according to WXYZ News.

When the other man, William Steinhaus, was charged with sexually abusing his own 2-year-old daughter and producing pornographic images of her, investigators searched his home. There they found evidence that Steinhaus -- who went by the name "Naughty Daddy" online -- distributed images of himself sexually abusing the 2-year-old to 25 other people.

One of the people was Leonard.

Leonard had posed as 16-year-old Corman Aloof online and had requested pictures of "children 11 years old and older," according to court documents. Steinhaus, however, sent Leonard multiple images of younger children involved in sex acts and bondage.

“I’m kind of loving it,” Leonard reportedly wrote in response to the images, according to the documents.

Investigators managed to trace Leonard’s activity via his email address and arrest him in Shelby Township, Michigan.

Leonard had been employed at Anderson Middle School teaching computer and technology classes. He had been a long term substitute, although he is not currently an employee of the school district.

Leonard also worked at a daycare in Shelby Township. He had dropped his kids off several times at the day care before working there, according to management. It’s unclear what his current employment status is with the daycare.

Leonard was arrested in connection to a drug charge in 2003, though the charge was later dropped.

He was charged on Friday with distribution, receipt and possession of child pornography, according to The Macomb Daily. He is currently being held at Wayne County Jail until his next hearing.
