Police in Spring, Texas, say Martin Gaytan called 911 and admitted to killing his wife in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office claims Martin and his wife Monica engaged in an argument at their home at around 5 a.m.

Martin told police that Monica pulled a gun on him, but he took it away and shot her numerous times, noted ABC 13 (video below).

Martin, who claims self-defense, was charged with the murder of his wife.

Harris County Sheriff's deputies told that Martin and Monica have a child who is 4 or 5 years old, but was not at home during the shooting.

( noted that Martin posted several pro-gun messages, pictures and memes on Facebook.

Martin allegedly wrote on Facebook, “Yep each pull of the trigger throws out 1 41 caliber ftx slug and 2 35 caliber bearings so can’t miss ha ha. Yup can’t go wrong there.”

In response, Monica commented, “Hey no bueno. Why are you playing with that. That’s not for kids.”

A meme that Martin reportedly posted gave several reasons why people should own guns, including: "Protection from your own government, Protection from foreign governments, Protection from angry mobs of people, Home defense, Self defense outside the home" and "It's my right."
