An unidentified man attacked and robbed a 56-year-old woman on the stairs in a subway station in Brooklyn, New York, at about 2:40 a.m. on March 9 (video below).
According to CBS New York, the woman got off a train at the 18th Avenue station, where she was attacked and robbed.
A surveillance video recorded the woman walking down the stairs from the subway platform as a man trailed her. At the bottom of the stairs, he attacked her, they struggled and he emptied her purse.
A 21-year-old man was arrested today for the the March 9 attack, according to police.
“Just grab the bag and go. That’s how I see it,” subway rider Steve Pena told CBS New York. “You know, there’s no need for punching and kicking. That’s uncalled for.”
“There will never be police here,” said another subway ride named "Caroline."
The female victim was taken to Maimonides Medical Center, where she was treated for a broken arm and bruises, reports DNAInfo.com.
