Police arrested a Louisiana woman on Friday for allegedly burning an 8-year-old girl’s hands before tying her to a bed.
Kerrian Javana Clofer, 26, was taken into custody and charged with second-degree cruelty to a juvenile as well as false imprisonment, according to the Associated Press. The Lake Charles native was accused by the victim of burning the girl’s hands over a gas stove after she ate a snack without her permission. Clofer is allegedly a friend of the girl’s father.
Police found out about the situation after they were called to a Lake Charles hospital on Thursday, where the girl was admitted. The girl reportedly had severe burns on her hands and marks all over her body.
Clofer allegedly handcuffed and tied her to a bed before sleeping and going to work. According to the girl, Clofer also starved her for days. When she was allowed to eat, she was given only noodles with salt and pepper. Clofer allegedly used a metal clothes hanger as well as a belt to beat her.
The 26-year-old is being held on a $700,000 bond in the Calcasieu Correctional Center.
The girl has been taken to a hospital in Baton Rouge and is currently residing in a pediatric intensive care unit.
Child Protective Services will take the girl under their care following her release from the hospital.
