Louisiana woman Jaylen Griffith was arrested on Sunday after she reportedly beat her boyfriend with a baseball bat when she caught him with another woman.
NOPD 7th District Officer Reginald Koeller III responded to a call about a potential domestic dispute at Griffith’s boyfriend’s house and arrived in time to see Griffith speeding away from the scene in a car. She was later stopped at an intersection near the home.
Griffith’s boyfriend told police that Griffith had arrived at his home upset because he was inside a house that belonged to another woman. Although he asked Griffith to leave several times, she refused and became violent. Finally, Griffith retrieved a baseball bat from her car’s trunk, broke into the house and attacked her boyfriend.
Griffith reportedly smashed the home’s windows, climbed through one to enter the house and struck her boyfriend with the bat. When he managed to wrestle the weapon free from Griffith, she continued to punch him several times.
The arrest report noted damage to the back window of the man’s car and broken windows on the left side of the home. There was also blood on the window blinds and interior walls of the home.
Griffith was charged with aggravated burglary and aggravated criminal damage to property. The charges carry a mandatory one-year jail term and a maximum of 30 years in prison.
Griffith’s bond was set at $20,000.
