Intoxicated Texas Mom Throws Children Out Of Car For Reading GPS Wrong

A Texas woman vacationing in Key West, Fla., was arrested Thursday after she allegedly kicked her children out of the car for reading the GPS incorrectly.

Suzanne Simon, 38, was charged with suspicion of felony child neglect. Her children, an 8-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy, are now in the custody of the Florida Department of Children and Families.

The Sugar Land mother was reportedly slurring her words when she was taken into custody. She is accused of kicking her son out of the car, without any shoes on, because he was reading the GPS incorrectly while she was trying to make a beer run. She then booted her daughter, too.

"Suzanne wanted more beer and cigarettes and kicked both [children] out of the car, driving away, leaving them," said Officer Bradley Lariz, according to the police report. “Suzanne continued to drive around yelling at her and slapping her on the forehead.”

The girl eventually found her mother’s car.

"Suzanne continued to drive around yelling at her and slapping her on the forehead," Lariz said the girl told him. "Suzanne kicked her out of the car two more times to find beer, and she picked a beer up off the sidewalk to give Suzanne."

Her son hitched a ride back to the hotel with two strangers.

“Knowing that she kicked him out of the car in the middle of Key West, Florida, I think that’s insane,” Courtney Maris, who knows Simon, told KHOU.

Simon was booked into Monroe County Detention Center on Stock Island.
