Two male international students, Haotian Liu and Dixiaonan Zhou, are facing criminal charges and possible deportation back to China because they shot toy pellet guns on the campus of La Roche College in Pittsburgh.
The criminal charges include possessing weapons on school property and disorderly conduct (video below).
The college students insist that the pellet guns are toys, but local police say otherwise.
"They represented to us that they viewed the guns as just being toys, in fact they weren’t,” McCandless Police Chief Gary Anderson told CBS Pittsburgh. “They were active weapons, in the sense of pellet guns, can do some bodily damage, no question about that.”
No one was hit or injured by the toy pellet guns, which an unidentified student reported to police on Monday afternoon.
According to WPIX, witnesses said the two students "were firing what looked like an assault rifle and a .45 in front of the campus bookstore."
