A Los Angeles man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a former reality television show contestant.
Lisa Marie Naegle's body was found buried in a shallow grave in 34-year-old Jackie Jerome Rogers' backyard on Dec. 20, KABC reported. Rogers was a nursing student of Naegle's.
Neagle, 36, was last seen attending a friend's 40th birthday party in Torrance on Dec. 17. Her husband said he received a text message from her at approximately 2:45 a.m., informing him that she was getting food and then coming home.
But Naegle never made it home, and she did not show up for her nursing class the following morning at West Los Angeles College in Culver City.
Rogers told investigators the two had parted ways after the party, but CCTV footage showed Naegle getting into his SUV. Police then searched his backyard, where authorities found Naegle's naked body faced down, TMZ reported. She was reportedly hit on the head with a hammer seven times.
Rogers was arrested on suspicion of murder and held on a $2 million bond, LAPD Detective Meghan Aguilar said.
"He shared some information that led investigators to believe that he was suspect, and tonight they felt they had enough to book him on murder," Aguilar told KABC.
"We begged and pleaded that he'd come to our home to kind of give us details on what time, where were things, and when he left her, but while he was talking to us and telling us his story, multiple different times he said he absolutely did not go home with her, or did not take her home," Naegle's sister, Danielle Naegle-Kaimona, said.
The family said they saw another video, which showed Naegle entering Rogers' SUV and leaving the parking lot. His vehicle has since been impounded and searched. Investigators reportedly found evidence in the SUV linking Rogers to Naegle.
Danielle said authorities told her that Rogers confessed to having an affair with Naegle during questioning. She said her sister had originally told her that Rogers was gay.
Rogers also told authorities that he had dropped Naegle off at Vermont Avenue and Torrance Boulevard, and claimed that was the last time he saw her, according to Danielle.
Rogers has since confessed to murdering Naegle, the Daily Mail reported. Law enforcement officials have not announced a motive at this time.
In 2010, Naegle appeared in "Bridalplasty," a reality television show on the E! network.
