A Hawaiian woman who pleaded no contest to sexual assault charges after she filmed herself having sex with an 11-year-old boy was sentenced to 20 years in jail.
Jean Paleracio, 33, who worked at Kauai Economic Opportunity Early Learning Center, assaulted the boy repeatedly from May 2009 to September 2013.
The judge called her a “sexual predator” who “scarred” the boy for the rest of his life.
"There is no other way to put it, Ms. Paleracio, other than you took ultimate advantage of a young boy," Judge Kathleen Wantanabe said.
Paleracio pleaded no contest to first-degree sexual assault and first-degree promotion of child abuse.
"Ms. Paleracio's actions were sickening and predatory and cannot be tolerated in our community,” said prosecutor Justin Kollar.
Paleracio was sentenced Friday to two prison terms, to be served concurrently. She was ordered to pay $45 in restitution to the victim, a $610 crime victim compensation fee, and register as a sex offender.
