A father from Newhall, California, has been arrested on the suspicion that he killed his 19-day-old infant and sexually assaulted her.
Matthew Brendan Warner, 30, was reportedly taken into custody Saturday morning, 12 hours after his baby girl, Ellorah Rose Warner, was reported missing from the home he shares with his girlfriend, reports KTLA.
Ellorah’s body was found in the front cab of a pickup truck and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Neighbors reported seeing Warner carrying the infant outside of their home right before she was reported missing. The baby’s mother was reportedly at work at the time.
After an investigation, Warner was charged with murder, assault on a child causing death, torture, oral copulation or sexual penetration with a child 10 years or younger, and aggravated sexual assault of a child, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
The suspect is being held on $2.25 million bail at Twin Towers Correctional Facility. His arraignment is scheduled for Feb. 18.
At the time of the incident, Warner was reportedly under supervision by the L.A. County Probation Department because of previous joyriding convictions, reports the Los Angeles Times. If he is found guilty of his current charges, he faces life in prison.
