A Connecticut mother whose 4-year-old was found walking the streets by herself is accused of leaving her daughter to perform sexual favors for a friend.
Shi'Day Nicks has been charged with reckless endangerment and risk of injury to a minor after her 4-year-old daughter was found walking the streets of Hartford alone on Sept. 29. A passerby noticed Nicks' daughter, Shafayla, by herself around 10 a.m. and called police.
Responding officers figured out where Shafayla lived and took her home, PIX 11 reports. They found the front door of the house left open.
Nicks admitted to leaving the house while her daughter slept, according to court documents. She said she made sandwiches for Shafayla and put cartoons on the television before she left.
Nicks reportedly left her daughter alone to perform sexual favors for a man named Richard in exchange for $230.
Shafayla was reportedly alone for nine hours.
Nicks' bond was set at $50,000 on Sept. 30. She is due back in court in October.
